Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2, 2025

1. Who we are

Debtcal ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at debtcal.com. We provide free debt payoff calculators and personal finance educational content. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide: We collect information you voluntarily submit through our contact form, including your name and email address. We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use our calculators.

Calculator inputs: Any numbers you enter into our calculators (balances, interest rates, payment amounts) are processed entirely in your browser. This data is never transmitted to our servers and we do not store it.

Automatically collected data: Like most websites, we collect certain information automatically when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages visited. This is collected through analytics tools and advertising partners (see Section 4).

3. How we use your information

  • To respond to contact form submissions
  • To analyze site traffic and improve our content and tools
  • To serve relevant advertisements through our ad network partners
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your calculator inputs for any purpose — they never leave your device.

4. Advertising and third-party services

Debtcal is supported by display advertising. We may use one or more of the following ad networks: Google AdSense, Ezoic, Mediavine, or Media.net. These partners may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your browsing activity across sites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site. Google Analytics collects data such as session duration, pages visited, and traffic sources. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Cookies

We use cookies for analytics and advertising purposes. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some features on our site and the ads you see.

6. Data retention

Contact form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and are then deleted. Analytics data is retained per the default retention settings of our analytics provider (typically 26 months for Google Analytics).

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. To make such a request, contact us using the information in Section 10.

California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

EEA/UK residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Our legal basis for processing contact form data is your consent. Our legal basis for analytics and advertising is legitimate interest.

8. Children's privacy

Debtcal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Debtcal after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
